If someone sneaks onto Muirfield Village with a bulldozer and flattens the 18th hole, there's not much doubt who the top suspect will be.

After all, the 18th has absolutely flattened D.J. Trahan.

In his other 51 holes this week at the Memorial Tournament, he's 2-over. At No. 18, in just three tries, he's plus-9.

"I think that's a pretty crappy hole," Trahan said while stalking away from the course after shooting a 6-over 78 in Saturday's third round.

You have your choice in types of golf balls as well, two-piece and balata. A two-piece golf ball has a surlyn cover, a core that is hard and very large. However, these are generally more popular because the surlyn cover protects the ball from cuts and nicks. The outer layer of a balata ball is softer but has the same hard core inside.

Joey Lamielle had to go 45 holes to earn a trip to the U.S. Open, outlasting Julian Suri in a nine-hole playoff Tuesday in south Florida to capture the final spot in a sectional qualifier. Three other players also advanced through playoffs in other qualifiers.

Lamielle got the third and final spot at Jupiter Hills Club in Tequesta, Fla.

In Lake Forest, Ill., Jonathan Turcott was in the trees on the first extra hole and escaped with par, then won the playoff two holes later over Kane Hanson.
